June 14th 2008 WTC Responder Speak-Out day in Lower Manhattan. Join Us!
The World Trade Center Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program Centers at Mount Sinai and Stony Brook, along with the NYC Central Labor Council and the NYS AFL-CIO are sponsored the first annual WTC responder speak-out day in Manhattan near the World Trade Center Site on Saturday June 14th 2008, to honor the courageous men and women who worked on the rescue, recovery and clean-up following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Vic Fusco taped the event and replayed many of the comments on his Labor Lines radio show.
Information for Rescue, Recovery, Clean-up, Disaster-Relief, Police, Fire and EMS Workers from World Trade Center – Ground Zero and other Disaster Areas.
As a result of the high incidence of respiratory and other diseases in individuals who worked in the rescue, recovery, and clean-up, at the World Trade Center, a number of bills have been introduced or are in the process of being introduced to permit the filing of certain types of disability claims.

NY City Pension Notices must be submitted by June 13th, 2007.
NY State Retirement System Pension notices must be submitted by June 14, 2007.
Workers' Compensation Board Notices must be submitted by August 14, 2007.
Filiing a Notice of Participation is not the same as filing a claim. Any workers who served in the rescue, recovery and clean up effort following the 9-11 attacks should file. For More information about Workers’ Compensation Registration and Pension Provisions please click here

If you mail notices directly to the retirement system or the Workers' Compensation Board, they should be mailed certified, return reciept requested. Please keep a copy for your records.

New York State Workers’ Compensation Presumption Bill
This Legislation has not been passed. It is expected that Assemblyman Bing will reintroduce it. The two Senators who championed the bill in the State Senate, Sen. Marchi and Sen. Balboni have retired. We will need new Senate sponsors.
